The hotel is very beautiful, very clean and has everything you need. The restaurant was excellent. The hotel is not too big and not too small. The staff is very nice and accommodating. I felt safe there. I like that it had valet parking and the hotel is right across from the theater. We had dinner and then walked across to the theater. The next day we walked to the riverwalk had lunch and went on a river boat ride then walked backed to the hotel to get our bags. It’s pricy but well worth it!
Why do I keep getting messages from you when the reservation has been canceled do to the hotel being closed down for renovations. I damn sure better have not been charged. This is a very poor way of doing business.
So sad to see what the renovations have done to this once beautiful hotel. I’ve stayed here multiple times and was shocked by the changes that have taken place. You used to walk in to the lobby and feel like you were transported to another time, when things were just more elegant and refined. Now the lobby is filled with tacky modern furniture, the grand lobby has been split by a cheap looking bar and there are these creepy looking hand light sconces on all the columns in the lobby. Don’t even get me started on the furniture in the rooms, even tackier than the lobby. We will be staying at the Menger next time we are in San Antonio, the Gunter has lost its charm and appeal. What Marriot has done to this once grand hotel is appalling.
