Score 5.0 / 5

Baton Rouge, LA The capitol of Louisiana has much to offer visitors. The 'Grand Dame' of the state, she seamlessly blends the latest trends while paying homage to her roots. A confluence of Cajun, Acadian, European and American culture, Baton Rouge has become an epicenter of dining in Louisiana. Visit the LSU Campus; home of the legendary Tigers Football team and Alma Maters Shaquille O'Neil and James Carville. Cruise down the mighty Mississippi while taking in views of her skyline, or try your luck at one of her many casinos. Since she enjoys mild weather year round, try planning your trip outside of football season, when over 100,000 fans converge to celebrate at Tiger Stadium.

Baton Rouge has a lot to offer the visitor. The city has various museums such as the Louisiana State Museum, the Natural Art & Science Museum, USS Kidd Destroyer Ship (tours are available), the LSU Rural Life Museum, Children’s Museum, and African American Museum. There is a water park called Blue Bayou that is quite popular. Baton Rouge has a decent size mall called the Mall of Louisiana- it is the biggest in the state. Baton Rouge has multiple Starbucks Coffee Shops, Whole Foods, Target, Walmart, plenty of shopping opportunities. Baton Rouge is also home to multiple universities, the main universities being: Louisiana State University, Our Lady of the Lake, and Southern University and A&M College. There is certainly a lot of fun and excitement during football season! In the outskirts of Baton Rouge, there are opportunities for camping and fishing. The Mississippi River runs through the city. Also in the rural areas around Baton Rouge are various plantation homes for touring and locally run and owned restaurants. Baton Rouge is centrally located and in reasonable driving distance from New Orleans and Lafayette Louisiana.
