This thrilling amusement park was built on the remnants of a limestone quarry that was first crafted back in the 1930s. After the limestone was depleted in the 1980s, the land became available for development. While another company started initial construction of the amusement park, Six Flags took over in 1996 and added extensive additions to the park in 1999 that included nearly a dozen new rides. The park has won numerous awards throughout its history, but it plans to take things to the next level in 2019 with year-round operation.
Six Flags Fiesta Texas continues to be one of the best places to find adventure in San Antonio and beyond. If you want to experience the thrills for yourself, you'll need to find a hotel that can cater to the kind of experience you're looking for. Whether it's an affordable option or a luxury hotel, there are more than enough choices around Six Flags, so you can find the hotel best suited for your ideal Six Flags, Texas, experience.
When should you visit Northwest - Six Flags, Texas?
Since Six Flags Fiesta Texas plans to start operating all year long in 2019, you'll be able to enjoy the amusement park no matter what time of year you visit. This can be particularly useful if you're not a fan of the summer heat. While the humidity is generally at comfortable levels, some travelers may still find discomfort in the heat of the summer months. Highs in August can get up to nearly 100 degrees, with average temperatures around 86.2 degrees. On the other side of the spectrum, winter lows in January rarely get below 40 degrees.
Nothing can ruin a trip to an amusement park like rain. Fortunately, San Antonio doesn't get much rain in general, but it's not exactly consistent year-round. While August and February are the months with the least rain, you can enjoy dry weather with cooler temperatures if you travel in late fall and early winter. Daily chances of rain during these times don't even exceed 10 percent. May is the rainiest month of all, getting 4 inches of precipitation with a daily chance of rain that stays around 14 percent. By national standards, however, that's still not very much.
Because of the weather, the most popular months for travelers to visit San Antonio and Six Flags are March and July. Seasonally, however, spring generally tends to be more popular than summer. If you want to avoid increased lodging costs, traveling during fall or winter might be your best bet.
