Peaceful, relaxing, nature filled, great hiking, good food!Been here three times over many years, always nice. One stay was in a cottage, twice at the lodge. Have hiked Old Rag and White Oak Canyon and Old Blue Ridge Turnpike. Have really enjoyed the breakfasts, dinners and sandwiches. We live by the beach and really enjoy escaping to the mountains.

Graves Mountain Lodge is a rustic and rural Blue Ridge mountain resort with 55 lodge rooms and 15 cabins located right next to Shenandoah National Park in a tiny village called Syria, Virginia (Madison County). The lodges sit on the hillside overlooking Rose River, our hay fields, and orchards - framed by the Blue Ridge.Note: our valley is tech UNPLUGGED - no cell phone and restricted WiFi streaming. This is the way our rural Blue Ridge life is. We have Family Style, home cooked southern meals and all folks dine at long communal table. This is community here and a continuation of farm dinners at big tables through the three centuries that we've farmed the valley.Yes, we are a farm and rural retreat and our farming is primarily apple orchards, cattle, and hay.We can assure that we are not about "fancy", unless we are referring to our apple butter.We are all about the outdoors. We have - two stocked trout streams, - horseback riding, - hiking along our ten miles of home farm trails and a hundred miles in Shenandoah Park, 7 miles drive away, - rock climbing on the ridge, - naturalist hikes - fly fishing clinics - road biking on a 100 mile back roads tour- mountain biking on abandoned forest roads- wine tour to four wineries within 30 mins and one just 10 mins- five brew pubs with 35 mins - bon fires nightly with s'mores- sing-alongs on Fri and Sat nights Each room sits in a lodge on the hillside with expansive Blue Ridge views. 2 Queen Beds, shared porch, rockers, traditional lodge style with paneled waxed wood from the farm's saw mill, with exterior entrances from porches.WiFi internet but streaming is not advised.Dining - family style traditional Southern - in the main lodge at set meals with set menus varied daily. The nearest restaurant other than us is in Madison 14 miles away. As a result we offer our guests a 20% discount for two and three meal plans. Yes, we will pack your lunch for you.Dining style: family style traditional southern cooking and, like being on a ship, we ask our guests to sit with others and get to know each other.Meetings, conferences, weddings:13 meeting rooms, so we can host small sized groups, retreats and team buildings.For company picnics coming from DC or Charlottesville we can and do host up to 2000.
