Founded in 1873 by German immigrant Col. John Gottfried Cullmann, this bustling little town is full of Southern charm with a twist of German influence. Each year, the streets of downtown Cullman are roped off for their annual Oktoberfest, a celebration of their founder's German heritage. Craft vendors, live bands, German food, and of course beer are all available as you wander through the historic streets of downtown Cullman.

The surrounding farmland inspires several other festivals held in town, including the Strawberry Festival, the Sweet Tater Festival, and Alabama Gourd Festival. Cullman is also the home of the Festhalle Market Platz, the largest timber-frame structure in Alabama and the home of the Cullman Farmers Market.
