Springdale is located in the northwest part of Arkansas, and is the state's fourth-largest city. It was founded in 1838, and two years later a Baptist church was established. The population began to grow slowly during this time. During the Civil War, the church burned down and was not rebuilt until 1868. Ten years later, the town was officially incorporated with the name Springdale. A post office was established, and the town began to grow again. Springdale has grown at a steady rate since the 1800s and continues to grow as larger companies move in to the town. More from this guide...

The population of the town has been rapidly growing over the past few decades. From the 1990 census to 2010 census, the town grew by over 125 percent. This is due in part to several large trucking companies making the town home. Tyson Foods, the world's biggest meat producing company, also has their world headquarters in the town, providing many employment opportunities for the locals. The name is on many features in the city, including the Don Tyson Parkway, the Randal Tyson Recreational Complex, and Don Tyson Elementary. The governor officially named the city "the poultry capital of the world."
