The Comfort Inn by the Bay is a simple, clean, basic hotel with a nice location relatively close to major tourist attractions, most notably Fisherman's Wharf. It is not really easy "walking distance" as advertised, but it is still under a mile away, making it a long walk or a very quick cab ride. This hotel's main selling point is absolutely its location, which accounts for the prices that are a bit higher than most Comfort Inn properties (although they still provide the free hot breakfast and free internet that comes standard with the brand). My honest opinion is that, if a group can spend a bit more, there are better value-for-the-price options out there. However, for the absolute lowest rates at a decent, clean hotel right in the middle of the action, this is your best bet.

Nice, clean, quiet with a free hot breakfast in the morning. Friendly, helpful staff. If you need a bus, take #28 to Golden Gate visitor Center or the other way to the Embarcadero. Some good eateries very close and a convenience store around the corner. We've stayed here at least a half dozen times on our many trips to SF! (Our son and daughter in law live here).
