Despite its small size, Petersburg is still one of the most interesting towns in Kentucky, with a history that stretches back over 200 years. Petersburg was founded on the site of Tanner's Post, the original trading post of Boone County that was established in 1790. This community is also home to the Bullittsburg Baptist Church, a historic house of worship that was established in 1794 and is still in operation.
For travelers interested in a country getaway, there's almost no better location in Kentucky than Petersburg. If you're thinking about visiting this idyllic community, then your first step should be to learn about some of the best hotels available in this area.
When to Visit Petersburg, KY
Before you go on vacation, there are several considerations that you need to make, including what time of years is right for your trip. When choosing the season for your trip, you want to strike an ideal balance between room availability and comfortable weather. Luckily, Petersburg, like many communities in northern Kentucky, offers great weather and fun almost year-round.
The most popular season to visit Petersburg is in the fall. Planning a trip to this city during the autumn months of August, September, and October provides several advantages that you should be sure not to miss. For example, the weather in these months is very mild and pleasant, with temperatures rarely straying above the mid-70s. Later in the season, you can take a drive and view the gorgeous colors of the changing leaves. There are also events in nearby Cincinnati, like the Midpoint Music Festival and the P&G Riverfest.
Traveling to Petersburg during the spring is also a very good choice, as the weather is finally starting to warm up after the long winter seasons. However, because spring can still be cool in Kentucky, there won't be as many tourists as other times of the year, meaning you can receive extremely affordable rates and won't have to compete for a hotel room. If you vacation in Petersburg in the spring, you'll be able to participate in nearby events like the Appalachian Festival or the Taste of Cincinnati.
If you pick the right time of year to visit Petersburg, you'll be able to have a great time at an affordable price, especially if you pick the right hotel. However, make sure to book your stay in advance if you want to be certain you'll be staying in the perfect room.
