The Sioux Falls center is approximately the area of Sioux Falls YMCA and the area of Washington Pavilion of Arts.
Sioux Falls experiences warm, humid summers and cold, dry winters. The city has more than 70 parks and greenways, so if you like to explore the outdoors, then it is best to avoid the winter months as the temperature is generally below freezing. However, if you're into skiing and snowboarding, then these are ideal times to visit. The Great Bear Recreation Park offers these activities, and you're likely to get a good hotel deal during this quieter time.
June, July, and August have the warmest weather, though it is also most likely to rain at these times and hotels are more expensive. However, as it is the busiest season, there are more special events taking place and more seasonal attractions open. There's an annual Sculpture Walk in downtown Sioux Falls each summer, as well as the Downtown Riverfest. This event celebrates the beauty of the Big Sioux River and features live music, art, family activities, and food and drinks.
Also in the summer are First Fridays. These are special evening events on the first Friday of each summer month. Stores and restaurants host special events with live music, and there's a concert at the East Bank. All of these events push the hotel prices up, but if you want to truly experience the city, then a summer visit is worth it.

The restaurant also provides a lunch and dinner menu and has a bar.
Sioux Falls has many outdoor spaces and recreation areas. It is a beautiful city that sits along the banks of the Big Sioux River, and the original settlement was founded around the Big Sioux Falls. Falls Park, just north of downtown, is where you can see 7,400 gallons of water drop over the 100-foot falls every second. Falls Park covers 123 acres and provides plenty of paths and trails to explore, as well as an outdoor shelter which hosts the farmers' market.
Falls Park plays host to the annual summer SculptureWalk, which features a trail of new sculptural art pieces every year. If you're visiting outside of summer, then don't worry, because there is also a fascinating collection of permanent pieces across the park. These include the magnificent Monarch of the Plains, a buffalo sculpted from a 12-ton piece of mahogany granite.
The park system features a 19-kilometer long paved route, which is excellent for walking, jogging, cycling, and even rollerblading. This track makes exploring the beauty of the parks easy, and it follows the course of the Big Sioux River and loops around the spectacular falls. There is also the Phillips to the Falls walking route, which connects downtown Sioux Falls with the falls themselves.
