The Buckeye center is approximately 13 miles west of Goodyear Ballpark and 14 miles west of Pebblecreek Golf Resort.
To see Buckeye at its finest, consider timing your visit to coincide with the Buckeye Days event, which combines the city's former Pioneer Days festival with the Buckeye Senior Pro Rodeo. This event is held on the last weekend of January each year, which falls in the middle of the area's best weather season.
From November through April, while colder locations are dealing with snow and dreary winter landscapes, Buckeye enjoys highs in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Keep in mind, though, that visiting during the peak season often means higher prices. Consider visiting towards the beginning or end of the season, when prices might be a little lower and temperatures a little higher. The shoulder months of May and October may also suit you well. Temperatures during these months tend to stay between 60 and 90 degrees.
Temperatures climb considerably higher during the summer months, with average highs above 100 degrees Fahrenheit and lows that stay in the 60- to 80-degree range. Many hotels offer incredible rates and special packages during summer to entice visitors, so it's a good time to travel to Buckeye on a budget. Outdoor activities will be a lot less pleasant in the desert heat, but it's not a humid heat like you'll find in the South. Late summer brings spectacular lightning storms courtesy of the monsoon season.
When shopping around for the best rates, keep in mind that most high-quality hotels will have higher rates during the area's peak tourism season (November through April). Still, no matter what time of year you visit, you can find discounts and special rates available at many hotels. Look for online or mobile-only deals as well as limited-time specials and flash sales to save even more money at hotels like Best Western Phoenix Goodyear Inn.
Within Buckeye itself, both the Holiday Inn Express & Suites and the Days Inn offer special online rates and discounts for AAA members; the Days Inn also offers lower rates for seniors. The Comfort Suites in Goodyear also offers AAA discounts, while the Towneplace Suites in Goodyear offer both AAA and senior discounts. Other hotels offer similar deals.
Perhaps the best value option for a trip to Buckeye is the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Phoenix West Buckeye. Not only has this hotel received excellent reviews from past guests, but it offers all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay — and at a reasonable price. About 12 miles from downtown Buckeye in Goodyear, another Phoenix suburb, are the Comfort Suites Goodyear and the Towneplace Suites by Marriott Goodyear. Comfort Suites features fitness facilities, a business center, laundry services, an outdoor pool, free Wi-Fi, and complimentary breakfast. Towneplace Suites matches these amenities and adds a few more, such as barbecue grills and a snack bar/deli. Both are excellent choices for business travelers, with Comfort Suites offering four meeting rooms and Towneplace Suites offer one meeting room and 350 square feet of conference space.
Whether you're on a romantic getaway, a family vacation, or a solo trip, Buckeye and the surrounding area offer a variety of activities and attractions for everyone to enjoy. Kids and adults alike will love the stargazing events hosted at Maricopa County parks throughout the year, where telescopes are provided and there is no cost beyond the day-use park entry fee. During the day, the whole family can take horseback riding lessons at South Buckeye Equestrian Center.
Golfers can play 18 holes at three different golf clubs in Buckeye: the Sundance Golf Club, the Raven Golf Club at Verrado, or the Copper Canyon Golf Club at Festival Ranch. All three boast breathtaking views of the White Tank Mountains, where you can head for some outdoor adventuring.
At White Tank Mountain Regional Park, you'll find about 30 miles of trails that range from 0.9 miles to 7.9 miles in length and cover the entire spectrum of difficulty levels. Unless otherwise marked, all trails are multi-use, which means you can go on foot, horseback, or mountain bike. The park also offers 40 tent and RV campsites and 240 picnic tables with grills.
Buckeye has all the charm of a small town, including a long list of recreational opportunities. It's the perfect place to slow down and relax, but you won't be far from the big-city attractions of Phoenix. Thanks to its location, Buckeye makes a great home base for exploring not only Arizona's capital but also the breathtaking scenery throughout the state.
