As a frontier settlement, Seguin was home to Captain Jack Hays, the most famous of the Texas Rangers. The town was also home to Dr. John E. Park, who experimented in concrete construction methods from local materials, resulting in the largest concentration of early 19th-century concrete buildings in the country. Seguin's economy relied heavily on ranches and farmland until the oil boom, which allowed the town to transform itself even as the Great Depression took hold in neighboring communities.
Today, Seguin is one of America's beloved Main Street cities and boasts an Art Deco-style city hall, jail, courthouse, and other structures. It's also home to the world's largest pecan, which sits in front of the courthouse. Whatever your reasons for visiting this quirky Texas town, it's important to find the right hotel that allows you to explore everything Seguin has to offer.
