Seasonality of Dallas, Texas

Dallas summers are hot, so if you're not interested in dealing with days that approach 100 degrees, visit Dallas in autumn between September and November. Fall season in Dallas is fun, with Oktoberfest and the Texas State Fair to keep you occupied. Fall and winter are also Dallas's low season, so your hotel rates won't be as high. If you don't mind a few days of snow, visiting in winter will save you even more. It might be a little chilly, but it won't be anything like up north.

March, April, and May are gorgeous in Dallas, but post-season Cowboys games tend to make hotel prices rise.

Which Dallas hotels have real discounts?

Know you're getting the best rate available by using the discounts you qualify for. If you're a military or government employee, a AAA member, an AARP member, or simply older than 62, many Dallas hotels have qualifying discounts that will make your stay a little sweeter.

The Sheraton Dallas Hotel only lists one AAA discount, but it's a significant one. For AAA members who display their cards at check-in, the Sheraton drops the price of a non-smoking room with a king bed by over $50 a night. The four-star Sheraton is centrally located in Dallas, and offers great amenities that will appeal to business travelers. Enjoy free Wi-Fi, an ATM, meeting rooms, conference space, valet parking, four restaurants, and laundry facilities.

Springhill Suites Dallas Downtown / West End is a three-star property with a great discount opportunity for seniors 62 and older. Save more than $20 on a suite with two double beds or a suite with a king bed when you show your ID at check-in. AAA members also save, though not quite as much as seniors will. With a location in the heart of Dallas, Springhill Suites is near several major attractions, like the Dallas World Aquarium and the Dallas Holocaust Museum. Get great complimentary amenities like Wi-Fi, an area shuttle, and breakfast. You'll also enjoy the outdoor pool at this smoke-free property.

Seniors also save at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Dallas Medical/Market Center. The senior rate is valid for those 62 and older, and takes almost $20 off the price of a two double bed or one king bed room. The Fairfield Inn & Suites is within walking distance of the Dallas Market Center World Trade Center, and offers many great amenities like free Wi-Fi, a free breakfast, and a restaurant. If you've been traveling for a while, ask about the available dry cleaning and laundry services.

At the Belmont Hotel, AAA members, AARP members, and military or government employees all have the chance to save on rooms. The Belmont is a 3.5-star property with rooms well below $140 a night during certain seasons when you use a discount. They offer a health club, an outdoor pool, and a pet policy. You can take advantage of their free Wi-Fi if you need to get some work done, or have a drink in the bar area if you would like to relax.

Best Value Options in Dallas, Texas

You can get a room with two queen beds for less than $80 a night, depending on when you stay. They offer a military discount and a AAA discount, along with free Wi-Fi and a free breakfast.

At the Best Western Cityplace Inn, you'll be just minutes away from downtown Dallas, and their best room rates often fall below $90 a night, depending on the season. Intimate Boutique Hotels Perfect for Couples Visiting Dallas, Texas

Take a weekend away from your life with your partner and stay in one of these romantic bed and breakfasts. The Guesthouse on Allen Street is close to downtown Dallas. This adults-only property has just a few rooms, and guest reviews say it feels like staying in someone's beautiful home, rather than in a hotel. They offer free Wi-Fi, a free breakfast, a library, and use of the nearby fitness center. The truly intimate vibe, however, is the real reason to choose this property.

The Corinthian Bed and Breakfast is also located near downtown Dallas, and like the Guesthouse on Allen Street, has rave reviews from former guests. It is also an adults-only property. The individually decorated rooms have unique styles and furnishings. Free Wi-Fi, free breakfast, and tour/ticket assistance is available to you if you stay here. This is a truly charming property that, again, feels more like staying in someone's picturesque home than in a hotel.

The perfect Dallas hotel is waiting for you. If you're traveling in a group, many hotels will give you great discounts so you can save even more!

I am not crazy about Dallas as a city. It is a bit too country for me. I like the cleanness and good roads, but having to always drive the highway just to go a mile or two is a bit too much.

Many things to do and the restaurants are excellent. We enjoyed the tour of the AT&T stadium, the Dallas City Tour bus, the Southfork Ranch tour, walking in the city parks, shopping at Bill's Western store downtown for a cowboy hat and souvenirs, and the Museum at Dealy Plaza.

Gerald C., from 29-Apr-2015

I was looking for a gift shop to purchase some "Dallas" items, but the best I could find was a CVS. Everything seemed spread out and the places to dine out were mostly fast food or bars that served food.
