The Grand Prairie center point is around 1 mile south of Louis Tussaud's Palace of Wax and Ripley's Believe It or Not and 1 mile south of Lone Star Park.

Grand Prairie has a history that starts in 1863. The city was established as Dechman by Alexander McRae Dechman who bought over 200 acres for a broken wagon, team of oxen, and $200. It was the US Postal Service that changed the name of the town to Grand Prairie, due in part to T&P Railroad naming the stop in that town "Grand Prairie" because maps labeled the area between Fort Worth and Dallas as "the grand prairie of Texas." Summers are definitely the most popular time to visit Dallas, Grand Prairie, and Fort Worth. Spring and fall highs sit between 60 and 80 degrees, depending on the month you choose to visit. This can make daytime very comfortable if you choose to spend it outside at sporting events and exploring the city.
