The Gold Rush town environment, the antique stores, good restaurants nearby, a lake to hike nearby, the black chasm cavern nearby, Sutter Creek nearby.
Jackson is a destination in that there is a very good Main Street section with historical buildings and a good variety of antique and gift shops among other things. Restaraunts and pubs and an amazing used book store you can browse for hours and want to return again and again. Baker Street West Theatrical group puts on live theater performances of Sherlock Holmes stories and are creating a wonderful collection of Sherlockian items and a pub and tearoom all in one building that is excellent. If you are a Sherlock fan you will love everything involved with Baker Street West. And all of this is a 5 minute drive from this wonderful hotel!
Jackson itself is wonderful. The breakfast restaurant across the street is incredible, family owned, and exceptionally friendly, with truly fantastic food. There are charming antique shops along the way, and overall the people of Jackson are warm, welcoming, and kind.

We enjoyed walking through the historic downtown area, checking out the local shops, and grabbing food from nearby restaurants. The surrounding foothills and mountain views are absolutely gorgeous, and the area feels peaceful and family-friendly. Jackson has a lot of character and history, and we would definitely return to the city itself.

I love the location of the hotel at the top of Main Street, surrounded by several charming shops and restaurants. Blue Door Bakery was open in the morning with their delicious breads and pastries. The hotel made a "do it yourself" breakfast cafe, which was tasty and filling.
