During the fall months of September and October, visitors enjoy an Indian summer atmosphere of warm days and cool nights. While the weather is nice, generally from September to mid-November, the annual American Royal event takes place at the Kansas City fairgrounds. The event is ongoing with live entertainment, rodeos, and cattle exhibitions. It's a major event drawing large crowds that can lead to higher prices and limited hotel availability. Also in October, Kansas City hosts the annual 18th & Vine Jazz and Blues Festival, which also draws large crowds.
Hotel deals and discounts are available, as the area doesn't have crowded conditions year-round. It depends on what you plan to do while visiting and the type of weather you prefer.
