Farmers were Corona's first settlers, arriving at the peak of Southern California's citrus boom in the late 1800s. Its soils were perfect for growing lemons and soon Corona became known as the Lemon Capital of the World. In 1935, the height of local lemon production, harvests from 2,406 acres of Corona lemon groves filled 1,138 railroad cars. Today Corona Heritage Park and Museum pays tribute to the city's citrus roots. It features exhibitions detailing the lemon's role in Corona's economy and a small specimen of 80 Eureka lemon groves, the last remaining grove in the area.
