When to Visit Augusta, GA

Augusta experiences four distinct seasons, but keep in mind that humidity can be high, especially during the summer months. June, July, and August tend to see highs in the low 90s, but throw in that extra humidity, and your stroll around the city can feel unbearably hot. Augusta also experiences a lot of rainfall during the summer, especially during August, so bring an umbrella if you plan to brave the heat.

April and May are the most pleasant months for a visit. Average temperatures hover around 80 degrees and rain is less likely, giving you an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. Hotel rates are generally higher, though, especially when The Masters tournament comes to town, so keep an eye out for important events that can drive up prices.

If you prefer to travel in the fall, the heat starts tapering off in September, and the weather remains relatively pleasant through November. Hotel rates tend to be lower during these months, giving you the best chance to save a few bucks.

Winters in Augusta, Georgia, are cold and wet. The average snowfall in the city is only one inch per year, but Augusta experiences a lot of rain, especially from January to March. Dress in layers and bring an umbrella if you're traveling during this time. The upside to the poor winter weather, however, is reduced hotel rates, which is great when you're trying to stick to a budget.

Best Discounts in Augusta, GA

If you research where you want to stay, you can save even more money during your trip to Augusta. Hilton Garden Inn Augusta, for instance, extends discounts to AAA and AARP members. Even military families and veterans can enjoy discounted offers, and these types of savings are available at several area hotels.

Quality Inn & Suites offers state government employee rates in addition to AAA and military rates. Certain business travelers can also take advantage of corporate rates. Being a Choice Hotel, Quality Inn & Suites and area sister hotels offer Choice Privileges Rewards, which allow you to earn free nights based on your previous travels. Be sure to check your favorite hotel chain for current rewards memberships.
