When to Visit

Denver enjoys two major tourist seasons. During the summer, you'll experience warm days, cool nights, and an abundance of outdoor activities. Festivals, carnivals, and outdoor concerts are popular throughout Denver from June through August, though warm temperatures sometimes persist until mid-September. You won't have to bundle up during your trip, and you can enjoy the greenery that returns to the Mile High City every spring.

If you're more likely to spend your time skiing than hiking, however, you'll want to visit Denver during the winter months. From November through February, you can hit the slopes every day of your vacation. The snow also makes for a romantic vacation if you're heading into town with your significant other. Around Christmas time, the downtown area is adorned with thousands of strands of twinkling lights, and you'll find Christmas trees in nearly every store.

Best Discounts

Many Denver hotels offer discounts for AAA membership, military service, and other ways to save money. The Hotel Monaco Denver, a Kimpton Hotel, for instance, gives discounts up to 20 percent for AAA members and business travelers. You can also take advantage of this hotel's special promotions, such as the Do Not Disturb romance package or the Linger Longer package, which provides you with a steep discount for booking a two-night stay. If you're traveling with a large group (booking between six and nine guest rooms), you can enjoy a discount of up to 30 percent per room.

The Courtyard by Marriott Denver Cherry Creek is another option if you're chasing discounts. If you book 14 or more days in advance, you'll get a 20 percent discount on your stay. It's also part of the Marriott Rewards Program — if you often stay in Marriott hotels, you can rack up savings for future visits. Other ways to save include AAA and CAA discounts, senior discounts (15 percent or more), and special government and military rates. If you have a corporate code, you can enter it during the booking process to save cash.

Then there's the Hilton Garden Inn Denver Tech Center. You'll save money at this hotel if you're an AAA, CAA, or AARP member. The venue also offers discounts for seniors, military families, and HHonors program participants. You can also take advantage of the hotel's package deals and corporate and small-group rates to snag steep discounts

Best Value Options in Denver

Sometimes the middle ground offers the most attractive choices. Luxury features at affordable prices make your stay in Denver more pleasurable, whether you're traveling for business or with the family. The Warwick Denver Hotel, for instance, offers a heated rooftop pool, room service, an expansive fitness center, and private balconies. It also allows you to bring your pet with no extra deposits or fees. You're just a 10-minute walk from several downtown Denver attractions, such as the capitol building and Benedict Fountain Park. The rooms are decorated tastefully, and some of the bathrooms contain soaking tubs.

The Hotel VQ is another affordable choice that packs plenty of value into your stay. Housed in a towering octagonal building, this venue embraces retro decor and offers an elegant cocktail lounge if you feel like grabbing a drink before you head out to explore the Denver nightlife. All rooms feature a spectacular view, whether you want to gaze at the downtown lights or marvel at the Rocky Mountains. Not only can you keep up with your workout routine in the fitness center, but you can also avail yourself of on-site fitness classes. Hotel VQ's concierge can help you with taxi service, event tickets, and other necessities during your stay.

If you're interested in rooms and common spaces with a more modern touch, however, check out the Magnolia Hotel Denver. Every inch of the hotel embraces simplicity of design and function, with smooth concrete and shiny lacquer finishes galore. The beds feature tufted headboards, and the furniture is designed with clean lines and elegant upholstery. Flat-screen TVs with premium cable channels and a complimentary hot breakfast are just a few of the premium amenities you can expect at the Magnolia Hotel Denver. However, you won't pay a premium price to stay here.

Must-Visit Venues in Downtown Denver

While Denver's surrounding environs offer plenty of outdoor adventures, you can keep yourself entertained even if you restrict your vacation activities to the downtown area. Start with the Sports Authority Field at Mile High if you're a football fan. This is the Denver Broncos home stadium, though it also hosts events throughout the rest of the year. You can watch the Denver Outlaws lacrosse team or book tickets for a concert or other performance.

Next, swing by the Denver Capitol Building for a tour. You'll learn about Colorado history and other fun facts. If you're bringing the kids (or if you're fascinated by sea-dwelling creatures), spend an afternoon at the Downtown Aquarium. You can browse the underwater exhibits, grab a bite at the eatery, and watch the Mystic Mermaids show. There are also a few exhibits of land creatures, such as tigers and parrots.

If you're visiting during the spring, summer, or fall, don't miss the Denver Zoo. You'll find animals that hail from all around the world, as well as a wealth of shows and interactive opportunities. Watch animal feedings and experience up-close animal encounters. This is also a great place to visit if you're a budding photographer.

Whether you're interested in value, luxury, discounts, or a particular neighborhood, you won't have trouble finding superb accommodations.

Denver, CO summarized

Since the Wild West days, Denver has drawn the interest of people of all colors, tongue and sexuality. The diversity of the cultural heritage of the city is evident through the festivals it hosts all-year round from Cinco de Mayo to Longs Peak Scottish Irish Festival. It even celebrates National Gay Rodeo Finals every summer. Everyone is most welcome here, and yes, that includes you! Wherever you may be from, you can count on the locals' welcoming and laid-back attitude. Blend with them by checking out the coolest bars and pubs around the town and have a taste of their pulsating nightlife that they have been enjoying since eons ago. After all, the first concrete structure in the city was a saloon. Speaking of which, you can relive the rich ethnic history of Denver by visiting Museo de las Americas and the Black American West Museum. Diverse Denver will provide you wealth of recreational options, ensuring that there will be something for everyone. Take a tour in the globe's biggest single site brewery which is Coors Brewery. Hit the spots that are just for kids such as Denver Zoo. The Larimer Square that has a block of Victorian buildings will let you have a unique and chic shopping experience. See how your coins are produced by touring the US Mint. There are lots of things to do and enjoy in the Mile High City. All that's lacking is you!

'Talking about America has come to me naturally. That's just because I've been a good American all my life. Much of it is owed to my home “ Denver. There's no other place I'd rather call my home.
David Fincher, a famed and acclaimed American director of hit movies like ˜Fight Club' and ˜Zodiac', uttered these words in a TV interview, just confirming how the real America is made by hardworking men and women who put the larger picture ahead of their own interests.

Denver, in that sense, is a really instrumental and indispensable part of American fabric. Colorado is largely known as a state that has been abundantly blessed by natural beauty that knows no bounds and adorable little towns and villages that still believe in living the sleepy life while never giving up chasing the American Dream.

If you are visiting Denver on business or for leisure, huge congratulations are in order for choosing a destination that is somewhat off the beaten track of American tourism, but every bit as beautiful as sunlight laden western coasts and history rich eastern cities. It's just as magnanimous as southern cities and just as grand as other Midwestern towns. What makes Denver really special is the confluence of all these traits from various parts of the country.

The City of Denver prides itself in being nestled amidst imposing Rocky Mountains that provide a backdrop of grandeur and splendor like none other. Living in Denver will certainly be a liberating experience for you, if you are enamored by nature, simple life and, more importantly, delicious food that just can't get any fresher.

Stay in Denver & Stay on Budget

Many tourists and travelers have an apprehension about finding a suitably affordable lodging place in a major city like Denver. Since Denver has become a local hub for businesses and tourism industry, hotels in Denver have flourished, making it difficult, to an extent, to find a truly cheap hotel.

However, avid tourists need not be discouraged. Just like other American towns, Denver still boasts of highway motels and affordable lodges that you can count on even in the middle of a night.

Cheap hotels, however, should not be expected to dole out the red carpet treatment to guests, since as the old southern adage goes “ you get what you pay for!

That being said, it would be in order to mention that these cheap hotels are not entirely despicable, as they still succeed in providing a comfortable stay to their guests, albeit with no frills.

Looking for Frills in Denver

Talking about frills, let's have a quick overview of various luxury Denver hotels. As Denver happens to be one of the largest cities in the region, it's quite predictable that it houses more than a handful of luxury resorts that cater to travelers who are ready and willing to pay higher prices in order to make the most of their stay in scenic Denver.

Four Seasons Hotel is among the top ones in Denver. It features lavish stately suites overlooking the Rockies that are perfect to unwind and forget about mundane worries that govern the majority of our routine lives. In addition to Four Season, Denver also boasts of Carlton Ritz and Hyatt “ hotel corporations known to extend nothing short of exception quality of hospitality to their patrons.

Staying Independent, Staying Free

Anyone who has a good understanding of how tourism industry works would agree with the fact that many travelers are comfortable staying at neither a cheap hotel nor a luxury resort. For such guests, there are myriads of options available in a big city like Denver.

The best option, in such a case, is to find an independent guest house or an apartment. Such units are equipped with all the necessary facilities to make the stay of their guests as comfortable as possible. In a way, these are much akin to living in a home away from home. In addition to these independent units, there are numerous mountain resorts located around Denver that are absolutely perfect for tourists who wish to traverse the Rockies for any reason “ from adventure to relaxation and self-discovery to spirituality.

What to Keep in Mind?

Denver is among the best cities in the US to spend post-retirement life in. That should be evidence enough for tourists to realize that a trip to Denver is not going to entail any unpleasant surprises. However, the only thing that tourists need to be aware of before visiting Denver is that making alternate journey plans may be necessary when unexpected weather emergencies confront the city. It's also quite a prerequisite to stock up on warm clothing in order to winter-proof yourself if you are visiting during or after fall season.

A trip to Denver Botanic Gardens is the most cherished part of the sightseeing spree in and around Denver for many tourists. Considering that these gardens can be quite time consuming, it is rather more convenient to schedule them towards the start of your sightseeing forays into Denver. Mount Evans is another spectator magnet. This part of the Rockies is, in a way, guarding mountain of the city, and tourists can get a panoramic view of the city from atop the mountain that is perennially capped off with a beautiful snow cover. Denver Museum of Nature and Science will be the best part of the trip for tourists who take active interest in nature, geography, history of the region and contribution of the region to modern science.

Intracity Transportation in Denver

Denver, being the largest city in Colorado, features efficient and effective public transport system comprising of buses, ably supported by Pan-American Railways. For long term guests, many Denver hotels do offer ticketing and booking assistance.

Score 4.0 / 5

I love Denver. Mostly I like that one of my sons lives there, and it's wonderful to be able to go there to visit him. Living in western Kansas, it's fun to be able to shop in stores and eat at restaurants that are new to me. Celebrating the birth of my Savior Jesus Christ and attending The Nutcracker performance by the Colorado Ballet at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House were the highlights of this year's trip. We are usually there at either Thanksgiving or Christmas each year.
