This area of Birmingham is very good and has much to offer within a 15 minute drive of the Hampton.
I really enjoyed the wedding I attended at Ross Bridge Resort. The Resort was beautiful & the workers there were very nice & helpful. Also enjoyed KFC & Waffle House. Also I enjoyed my visit to Patriot Park.

We enjoyed all the shopping and nice restaurants near our hotel especially the little downtown area while we stayed In Birmingham for a concert . We especially loveddddd the coffee shop called the FROTHY MONKEY so check it out!!

Here to visit family and was surprised at the many restaurant choices. The mountain range views and the people are very friendly. I can see why my brother has lived here for more than 3 decades.

We found Birmingham to be a city with very polite people. The city itself was clean. I also appreciated the police presence for the safety of all the young gymnasts and spectators at and around the Convention center.
You couldn't be on a better part of the city. The dining experiences within a mile are astounding!!!
The History
We only saw what was around the JJC arena. Our hotel(Hampton Inn &Suites downtown Tutwiler) it was a very nice hotel, it is undergoing some renovation right now. We visited Birmingham for a concert that was within walking distance of our hotel as well as some bars and restaurants so we parked at the hotel and just walked around, didn't venture any further, we liked the area. The concert let out late but there were a bunch of people walking back to the hotel so we were not alone.
Birmingham has 10 to 20 Top sites to see and numerous quality restaurants Downtown & in suburban areas... We ate downtown at the El Royale Cafe which was superior!! We were able to see 5 sites and all were outstanding!! 16th Street Baptist Church with 100 + Year History and "what happened there Changed the World"; the Parsonage next door with Outstanding Memories honoring the early laeders in the Black Business Community like highly educated architect Wallace A. Rayfield, Designer of this church and over 300 other churches, offices and retail business buildings. The Kelly Ingram Park which is Beautiful and elegant & dedicated to those lost in this place of revolution & reconciliation... Such a wonderful peace and tranquil setting with life size sculptures of Dr. Martin Luther King In the children lost in the 1960's church bombings... Next was a stop at the Fabulous free Birmingham Botanical Gardens - a must visit and take some time to walk the trails and smell the roses in the Irish Old Fashioned Rose Garden...Final stop on our day tour was Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum & Multi Race track facility for Indy cars & Motorcross & Motorcycle racing.. You could spend 2 days here and it was most impresive with the world's largest Motorcycle collection.. Movin on to Augusta next

I lived here over 13 years ago for 10 years or so before moving back to my hometown in Illinois.
We go there for medical appointments at UAB. Location is convenient.
We were there for concert; venue was nice and so were the people.
My wife and I grew up in Birmingham. It has matured well .

We went to a music venue in Birmingham called Iron City and we walked from our hotel so we got to see some of the city and try some of the local food.

The BJCC and surrounding area was a great location for the Wicked theater performance.

Grew up not far from Bham and lived in south side for years. Beautiful city and can't beat the southern hospitality of my people in Alabama the beautiful.
It was easy to get from the airport baggage claim to rental car offices. Birminham and Hoover are easy to access.
