Saranac Lake has a pleasant climate throughout most of the year, although it does get quite a bit of snowfall in the winter. It's a hub for winter outdoor activities, including downhill and cross-country skiing, ice skating, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing.
In the summer months, the high temperature is rarely higher than 76 degrees Fahrenheit and the humidity level is fairly moderate. The summer and winter seasons have the highest levels of tourism, so hotel rates tend to go up during these times of the year.
During the summer season, the village hosts free concerts in several parks, which can draw large crowds. The annual 10-day winter carnival has taken place in Saranac Lake for more than a century and includes a parade, an ice palace, and various competitions and activities. The Can Am Rugby Tournament is also hosted by the village every year, and it's the largest tournament of its kind in the Western Hemisphere. These events can all impact hotel prices throughout the year.
