From May through August, Montgomery suffers from triple digit temperatures and humidity that easily ranges into the 90s. Fishermen will love the black bass fishing at lakes and ponds throughout the park, while hikers can traverse portions of the 129-mile Lone Star Trail. If you manage to get here during spring, you can see redbud trees and weeping willows blossom with huge, beautiful flowers. For something a bit more exciting, grab your mountain bike, four-wheeler, or all-wheel drive vehicle and explore the park on the state's only off-highway vehicle trail in a protected area.
When you're done exploring the lake or the forest, don't forget that you're in the heart of Texas' wine country. Several wineries grow grapes and produce some of the finest red, white, and blush wines you've ever tasted. The wedding venue, The Farmhouse, was gorgeous and the facilities were comfortable. Personnel were wonderful and the food and beverage provisions were efficient and tasty.
