There's plenty to do and see in and around Davison. For some outdoor fun, head over to Jack N. Abernathy Regional Park, one of the nicest parks in the area. Kids love puzzling out the unusual maze, while teens and adults enjoy games of pick-up basketball on the courts. Bring your rackets and balls to play some tennis while you're there. During the winter months, this is the ideal spot for sledding, given the hilly landscape.
Your furry friends also have a place to unwind at Davison Area Dog Park, which features separate areas for large and small dogs, as well as for dogs that get unsettled by large groups and need a bit more personal space.
Pick up some fresh produce at Davison Farmers Market, one of the area's hidden gems, open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. You can get more than produce. Stop in for a wood-fired pizza at Scalici's and be sure to try the fresh cinnamon rolls. Then pick up an assortment of fresh local cheeses, fruits, jerky, and veggies to store in your hotel's mini fridge during your stay.
If you're looking for a larger meal, head over to MoJoe's, a local bar and restaurant beloved for its fish and chips and wings. For the best microbrews in the region, visit Redline Brewing Company. This outpost doesn't serve food, but you can bring your own to enjoy as you sip on one of 20 house microbrews. On select nights, Redline hosts local music acts and provides free popcorn.
Genesee Recreation Area offers other popular (and beautiful) outdoor spaces. Large open spaces, a playground, a splash pad, shaded cabanas, and beach access on Mott Lake make this a crowd-pleasing destination in the summer season. Families and history lovers will also love a visit to Crossroads Village, a collection of restored 19th-century buildings.
The town also features an authentic narrow-gauge railroad, the Huckleberry Railroad, and amusement rides. A ride on the Huckleberry Railroad is a 40-minute journey in an authentic steam locomotive along the shore of Mott Lake. The journey also provides a beautiful view of the Genesee Belle, a paddleboat replica. You can also embark on a 45-minute scenic boat ride around Mott Lake aboard the Genesee Belle.
Those who love nostalgia and want to do some serious shopping can head over to Collette's Vintage and Antique Mall in nearby Burton, just miles away from Davison. You can easily get lost in this enormous space, full of individual vendors. Come to the flea market on Saturday for even more selection.
