The restaurants are excellent, there are many art shops with incredible paintings of the area and the town is dog friendly with a fantastic beach. Carmel is one the the best places to visit in CA.

We come every year to Carmel because it is so unique and beautiful and for the nearby golf.
We ate at “Aw Shucks”…delicious! We went shopping on Ocean Ave. and bought some amazing oils and other goodies at Olivier's…spent some time at the gorgeous Carmel Beach with the white, baby powder sand and then explored the historic and very beautiful Carmel Mission.

I love Carmel. It is quaint, unique, personable and classy. The restaurants are memorable, accommodating and quietly invite you to return.
What did I like? What's not to like? It is truly one of the most charming towns I have ever been in and it rivals places in Europe. The problem is it is surrounded by the most ghastly urban nightmare I have ever experienced. I am Canadian and I doubt I will ever see the inside of California again.
Casanova restaurant is the best. We also love the Carmel Bakery, and enjoy casual dinner at the Hog's Breath Inn. The city is so dog friendly! I loved seeing dogs in restaurants all over town, and in hotels as well. The shops were great, including something for everyone - amazing cowboy boots, art, gifts, even Christmas ornaments. A very welcoming town with a friendly, beachy vibe that is hard to beat.
