Silicon Valley's name refers to the silicon chip manufacturers and innovators in the area, but many of the largest high-tech companies and corporations operate there as well. Thousands of startups, many Fortune 1000 businesses, and other innovative companies are headquartered in Silicon Valley. Some of the key technologies developed in this region include the microcomputer, the silicon-based integrated circuit, and the microprocessor, which are components of everyday tech devices.
When should you visit Silicon Valley, CA?
The best time to visit Silicon Valley is during the fall season. Between September and November, temperatures are more pleasant, and the area sees a slight dip in tourism, which can help reduce hotel room rates. It's easier to navigate the attractions and see the sights when it's less crowded. During the spring season, Silicon Valley enjoys mild temperatures and little rain, so that is another good time to visit.
For the best bargains on hotel rooms, plan your trip during the winter months. The chilly temperatures keep the crowds away, but as long as you bring layers, you should be able to stay warm. The average temperatures fall in the 40s and 50s during the winter, while the summer months have highs in the mid-60s. Silicon Valley gets quite a bit of wind from across the Bay, so be sure to bring sweatshirts and jackets if you're planning to spend time outdoors.
