The city of downtown Providence is very walkable. We walked from the hotel to the mall, then the financial center. We found a riverwalk restaurant (The River Bistro) they have a weekend brunch and food was delish (make a reservation). We considered walking to Brown U after brunch but decided to drive there later. There is also another area nearby (Pinecone/Pineapple Arch/Federal Hill) with lots of food options too!

Visited my granddaughter at Johnson & Wales and walked their campus. I loved the mall, the restaurants and little shops. Great small city.

RISD museum Classical Assn of New England Summer Institute at Brown (we go each year; our first time in Providence) Institute has been in Hanover NH at Dartmouth and the setting is much more vacation-feeling. But staying at HI was lovely.
