Springfield has a humid subtropical climate with four distinct seasons. During the summer months, the humidity levels can get very high, although the temperature rarely rises above 100 degrees. In 2007, the city earned a spot in a Forbes Magazine article that highlighted cities in America with the wildest weather. In this article, it was determined that Springfield has the most varied weather in the United States.
When visiting a city with such drastic shifts in climate, it's tough to know what to bring or when to go. Since you can't know exactly what the weather will be like during a trip, be sure to bring layers to stay warm in case it gets cold. The summer months tend to be warm and humid, causing residents to take vacations away from the area, so hotel prices tend to drop a bit during that time. If you can brave the cold, head to Springfield in the winter to enjoy lower hotel rates.

Below are reviews of the city of Springfield, MO from an actual visitor's perspective.
I visited the Downtown area which is very old fashioned and nostalgic.
I have now had two children graduate from Missouri State and have fallen in love with Springfield. It is big enough to have some entertainments, good food, etc. but small enough to get around.
The Big Bass Pro Shop was really a nice place to visit.
This city while it is a college town and we was there for a concert, was super friendly. Wal-Mart is around many different places to eat. Many of which you can eat at with gift cards bought at Kroger or Dillon stores.
It is very easy to find your way around and they have shopping everywhere.
