Few neighborhoods can evoke images the way that Haight-Ashbury can. Just the name alone brings to mind thoughts of flowers, peace, tie-dyed shirts, and burning incense. During the 1960's, young people came to Haight-Ashbury in droves searching for a sort of cultural utopia, and the neighborhood became a center of hippie subculture.
