Mule deer, bobcats, black bears, and gray foxes live here, and Cougars travel through the canyon from the San Bernardino Mountains. The park was established in 2003 to protect the area from development.

Redlands features a number of historic buildings. Kimberly Crest House and Gardens provides tours of the castle-like lavish Victorian home. The spectacular Morey Mansion has been called America's Favorite Victorian House. The A.K. Smiley Public Library, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is one of the oldest public libraries. The Asistencia Mission de San Gabriel was built between 1830 and 1834 by the Franciscan Fathers of Mission San Gabriel. In and around the restored structures are a bell tower, wishing well, wedding chapel, cactus garden, and a museum whose exhibits show Native American and early pioneer life.
Calimesa, California, is a small city that seems much larger due to having Yucaipa right across West County Line Road and numerous cities within a few miles. You won't run out of fun activities.
