When to Visit Lakewood, Colorado
Because of Lakewood's proximity to Denver and the Rocky Mountains, skiers and snowboarders flock to the area during winter months. Hotel rates usually go up, unless you're visiting for winter sports, heavy snowfall and winter storms make this a particularly inhospitable season. Spring and fall are typically the best times to visit Lakewood, both for the weather and for the slightly less crowded atmosphere. Fall brings festivals and events in nearby Denver, so room rates might see a bit of a hike, but summer is typically more crowded and more expensive than spring or fall in Lakewood.
