Since 1928, Nancy Island Historic Site has served as a historic site as it's the location of a significant event during the War of 1812. HMS Nancy was a schooner best known for when her crew set her on fire to prevent the capture of the ship and the cargo on board. The ship's wreckage was discovered in July of 1927.
