When should you visit Springfield, MO?

Springfield has a humid subtropical climate with four distinct seasons. During the summer months, the humidity levels can get very high, although the temperature rarely rises above 100 degrees. In 2007, the city earned a spot in a Forbes Magazine article that highlighted cities in America with the wildest weather. In this article, it was determined that Springfield has the most varied weather in the United States.

When visiting a city with such drastic shifts in climate, it's tough to know what to bring or when to go. Since you can't know exactly what the weather will be like during a trip, be sure to bring layers to stay warm in case it gets cold. The summer months tend to be warm and humid, causing residents to take vacations away from the area, so hotel prices tend to drop a bit during that time. If you can brave the cold, head to Springfield in the winter to enjoy lower hotel rates.

What hotels in Springfield have the best discounts?

A variety of discounts available at the hotels in the area make it easier to reserve a room that won't break the bank. For AAA members, discounts are offered at Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Springfield North, Quality Inn & Suites, Super 8 Motel, Clarion Inn & Suites, and Sleep Inn Medical District. Seniors can score discounts at Hampton Inn Springfield Southeast, La Quinta Inn & Suites Springfield Airport Plaza, Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Springfield, and Doubletree by Hilton Springfield.

Government and military personnel can save with discounts at Holiday Inn & Suites Springfield I-44, Towneplace Suites Springfield, Hampton Inn Springfield South, Residence Inn by Marriott Springfield, and Hilton Garden Inn Springfield. Group discounts are also available at several hotel properties in the area, including Drury Inn & Suites Springfield, Missouri.

Where are the hotels with the most value in Springfield, MO?

Hampton Inn Springfield Southeast offers a high-value experience with a number of amenities that guests will find appealing. The property has an indoor pool, a fitness center, and a spa tub, along with a bar serving your favorite cocktails. Each room has its own refrigerator, plush bedding, a flat-screen TV, designer toiletries, and workspaces. Enjoy the complimentary breakfast buffet each morning or grab an “On the Run” breakfast bag from the front desk on weekdays.

Another of the best value options in town is Towneplace Suites Springfield, located on National Avenue. Each suite has a kitchenette with a refrigerator and stovetop, free wireless internet access, and a Smart TV with cable programming. Guests can take advantage of the indoor pool, a fireplace in the lobby, a fitness center that's open 24 hours a day, and a picnic area. Room service and meals are available, while a complimentary continental breakfast is served each morning.

At Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Springfield North, guests get quite a bit for a reasonable price. Rooms include microwaves, refrigerators, tea and coffee makers, and free WiFi. Other amenities include a fitness center, an indoor swimming pool, dry cleaning and laundry services, a free roundtrip shuttle to the airport, and an outdoor picnic area. Each morning, a hot breakfast is available, which includes eggs, sausage, and other morning favorites.

What should you do on your trip to Springfield, Missouri?

Springfield has a long and fascinating history, with a variety of historical attractions that offer glimpses into what life was like in the early days. Some of these attractions include the Route 66 Car Museum, the Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Park, and the Springfield Conservation Nature Center. For families, top activities include the Discovery Center of Springfield and Johnny Morris' Wonders of Wildlife National Museum and Aquarium.

Explore the great outdoors at the Springfield Botanical Gardens, Sequiota Park, or the Mizumoto Japanese Stroll Garden. If you're up for something unique, pay a visit to the World's Second Largest Fork, an area landmark that's exactly what it sounds like — a 35-foot-long utensil — or stop by Relics Antique Mall to shop for some treasures. The Air and Military Museum of the Ozarks is also worth seeing, especially if you have a history in any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces.

During a trip to Springfield, you can enjoy a relaxing getaway while learning more about the history and culture of the area.

Edwin Powell Hubble, one of the most important observational cosmologists of the 20th century, once said, 'We do not know why we are born into the world, but we can try to find out what sort of a world it is “ at least in its physical aspects. He had been raised in Springfield, the third largest city in the state of Missouri. Known by its nickname the 'Queen City of Ozarks and 'Birthplace of Route 66, Springfield is an interesting destination for tourists as it offers a wide range of attractions and hotel accommodations. While hotels in Springfield are not in abundance, they certainly have the capability to satisfy your needs.

Stay in Springfield & Stay on Budget

If you are looking for a cheap hotel, do visit the Walnut Street Inn. Previously known as the 1896 McCann-Jewell house, this B&B is a lovely respite from the hectic world of travel and hotels. Top-rated attractions nearby include the Springfield Cardinals home ground as well as the Mother's Brewing Company. The Mansion at Elfindale Hotel is another cheap hotel in Springfield. Historically beautiful and well maintained, this building stands out from the all the other Springfield hotels. Take a slow walk in the Mizumoto Japanese Stroll Garden next to the hotel to clear your mind and relax your body or you may choose to intrigue yourself in the NRA National Sporting Arms Museum.

What About Luxury Hotels?

While there are only a handful of luxury hotels in Springfield, Hotel Vandivort certainly distinguishes itself from the rest. Inspired by Springfield's rich history and culture, this hotel capitalizes on its vibrant downtown setting to offer a truly authentic experience. Located in the center of Springfield, it is easily accessible from any part of town. If Hotel Vandivort is not to your liking, Towneplace Suites would certainly meet your expectations. Focused on customers' comfort, the staff at Towneplace Suites goes out of their way to make guests feel at home. In addition to the fully equipped kitchens and pet friendly environment, the hotel also offers complimentary shuttle transportation to Franconia/Springfield metro station.

Alternative Accommodation in Springfield

Among all the other Springfield hotels, the Drury Inn & Suites is the most value for money. For the convenience of its guests, it offers a wide variety of complimentary services such as free breakfast, free food and beverages at their 5:30 Kickback in the evening. To promote a balanced lifestyle, they also offer a 24 hours exercise center. More importantly, they provide free Wi-Fi access and free long distance calls to ensure that you can keep tabs on the situation at home. This hotel is the perfect destination for a relaxing and satisfying vacation.

We found some very good restaurants both in the city and Harvest out in the country. The Botanical Gardens were very lovely and it is great that there is no charge for anything except the Japanese Stroll Garden. There is some lovely countryside outside of the city.
