Ford's Theatre is a historic theatre open for public viewing during the day from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. when rehearsals and performances are not going on. It is a working theatre as well, with great shows playing at many times of the year. Ford's Theatre is positioned in between the White House and the Capitol Building in central D.C. Other attractions are near it as well. One is the National Archives building, where you can view the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the Declaration of Independence from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. during spring and summer, and from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. during fall and winter. The buildings and monuments of Capitol Hill are also very close, in all directions. Near to Ford's Theatre are some of the museums in the Smithsonian, with free admission and hours from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Washington monument and various other memorials are positioned all around as well. The Capitol Building offers tours Monday through Saturday, from 8:50 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. Free walking tours are also offered by DC Walkabout that cover the Capitol Building and other historic locations on Capitol Hill.
