When to Visit McLean, VA
The time between June and August is not only the busiest for tourists, it's also the hottest time of year. During these months, McLean typically sees high temperatures in the mid to upper 80s Fahrenheit and average lows in the 70s. The area also sees the highest amount of rain this time of year, so if you plan to visit, make sure you pack an umbrella. Since this is such a popular time to visit, hotel deals are very hard to come by.
While fall in McLean brings more comfortable temperatures, hotel prices are still pretty high. September sees average highs in the low 80s, while October and November are usually in the 50s or 60s. Rain chances start to diminish, so if you like to explore outside, this is a great time of year to do it.
December through February is the low season for McLean, so if you're looking for a great deal, these are the months to visit. Just remember that you'll have to deal with cold and snowy weather, and temperatures during these months hover in the 30s and 40s. While you probably won't want to do much outside, the indoor attractions stay open throughout the winter to keep you entertained.
When spring rolls around, the temperatures start to rise and tourists come back to the area. While average temperatures in March start out in the brisk 50s, by May they've climbed to the mid-70s. Keep in mind that the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, DC starts in late March, and hotels all around the area increase prices to take advantage of the influx of visitors.
