The original Yankee Stadium will always be "the house that Ruth built". With near landmark status, it surely was a sad day when this historic facility could no longer play host to the beloved Yankees. The new Yankee stadium, situated across the street, is now the home of the Bronx Bombers. With plans for the new stadium dating back to the 1980's, the new ballpark opened its doors on April 2nd of 2009. This was a special day for the Bronx community, as they watched their team workout in the new facility. The next day saw the Yanks defeat the Cubs in a preseason exhibition game.
