So what makes the city so popular? Location is definitely a draw, as is the safe area with newer developments, including the Stonebriar Centre that opened in 2000 with 165 stores and IKEA, which opened in 2005. For families looking to settle down, the safety of the city is definitely a draw. As of 2015, there were only 0.75 violent crimes per 1,000 residents and only 19.02 property crimes per 1,000. To put that into perspective, Frisco is safer than 43 percent of US cities.
Add to that the fact that Frisco experiences 230 sunny days a year with highs around 96 degrees F in the summer and lows around 33 in the winter, and you've found a city that has a happy medium while still experiencing all four seasons of the year.
Best Time of Year to Visit Frisco, TX
There are two main reasons to avoid Frisco in the summer: One, the weather is hot and humid, usually settling in the mid-90s. Two, it's the height of tourist season, so rates on hotel rooms are higher during the summer than any other time of the year. The best times to visit Frisco are in the shoulder seasons of spring and fall. That's when you'll hit the best weather and really enjoy being outdoors. Though fall finds great weather in this area of Texas, many travelers stay home in fall because of school starting up. Note, however, that prices tend to rise during football season as travelers head to Dallas and the outlying areas for Cowboys games. Avoid heading to Frisco when there's a home game, and you could save some money.
Of course, you'll find the very best rates on accommodations from December (outside of Christmas) to February, because it's the coolest time of year. Daily highs sit around 50 and 60 degrees F. For those used to freezing temps, this can be a welcome relief, and you'll find great prices for hotel rooms this time of year.
