Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York was designed and built especially as the new home of the Brooklyn Nets, a team of the National Basketball Association. The venue opened its doors in September of 2012. The architect firms of Ellerbe Becket and SHoP created the design. From the outside, the appearance is of three rings with a wall of glass. The weathered or rusty look of the outer surface is meant to copy the look of the brownstones in Brooklyn.
