You'll be about an hour or so from both Los Angeles to the northwest or San Diego to the southwest, depending on the traffic, so it's an ideal place to stay if you're looking to get out of the bustle of a big city. Murrieta recently experienced a boom in population and has been one of the fastest growing cities in California.
When to Visit Murrieta, CA
Murrieta's southern California location means temperatures go much higher here than in the Bay Area — southern California gets much more sun! In other words, don't rule out a winter trip, which will help you escape colder temperatures at home while saving you money on hotels. Daytime winter temperatures regularly slip above 60 degrees. The area does get most of its rainfall between December and the middle of April; that said, it rarely gets rainy enough to bother travelers.
Peak tourist season hits California's south between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Prices are highest in these months as a result, and when you start moving inland from the coast, you'll also start encountering stifling temperatures. Consider booking your trip before or after this period as prices tend to drop dramatically.
Take a tip from the native Californians and think about traveling to the region in the autumn. Many people from this state consider fall the best time to go. Crowds taper off, winter rains haven't yet arrived, and you can nab shoulder-season rates if you book from late September to early December.
