The restored Schoenbrunn Village in New Philadelphia was founded in 1772 as a mission to the Delaware Indians. The village eventually included 60 homes and more than 300 residents. The settlers abandoned the community in 1777 amid struggles during the American Revolutionary War. The restored site includes the church, the original cemetery, 16 reconstructed log buildings, gardens, a museum, visitor center, picnic facilities, and green space.
The 1400-seat Schoenbrunn Ampitheatre is in the scenic Tuscarawas Valley, 2 miles outside of downtown New Philadelphia. Its most famous production is "Trumpet in the Land," the state's first outdoor drama, depicting the founding of Schoenbrunn and the later struggles. The production features spectacular lighting and explosive battle pyrotechnics.
Tuscora Park, a New Philadelphia family park open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, offers vintage amusement rides, picnic areas, and more. The highlight of the park is a 1928 Herschell-Spillman antique carousel that has been at Tuscora Park since 1941. It's one of only a few all-wooden carousels remaining and features 36 hand-carved wood horses and a pair of chariots, along with 14 original oil paintings. The music comes from a Wurlitzer-style 153-band organ.

J.E. Reeves Victorian Home and Museum in Dover is open Wednesday through Sunday from June to October and Nov. 11 to Dec. 22 for Christmas Tours. The restored 19th-century Victorian home is the former residence of Jeremiah E. Reeves, a prominent Dover industrialist, and is now owned by the Dover Historical Society. Guests can take a guided room-by-room tour of the opulent 17-room mansion, which features furniture and other antiques owned by the Reeves family. Behind the mansion, the Carriage House Museum displays a fascinating collection of vintage vehicles.
Visit the Ernest Warther Museum & Gardens to learn the legacy of the Warther family. Ernest "Mooney" Warther turned his joy of carving wood and ivory into creations that the Smithsonian has called "priceless works of art." Mooney lived during the time of steam locomotives, which are the subjects of many of his carvings. His precision carving and the mechanizing of his locomotives earned him the title of World's Master Carver in the 1920s. Visitors can also enjoy Freida Warther's collection of more than 73,000 buttons and the beautiful Swiss-style gardens.
Ohio has the largest population of Amish people in the United States — 59,103 in the 2010 census. Many are in Tuscarawas, Holmes, and Wayne counties. Yoder's Hometown Market in Dover is an Amish business selling bulk foods and unusual food items. Another Dover Amish business is the Dover Flea Market.

I grew up in the Dover area, been gone for a few years, it's a nice place to stay.
You have to visit Derdutchman Restaurant and the shops. Sunday, everything is closed in Sugarcreek even breakfast. Go early on Saturday!
