The Colony Texas Hotels & Motels

When to Visit The Colony, TX

The best time to visit The Colony is in fall, between September and November, when temperatures change from oppressively hot to mild and comfortable. The hordes of tourists tend to leave during this time, and the Texas State Fair — one of the state's biggest festivals and attractions — is in full swing. Because of the fair, hotels are sometimes in high demand, but once it's done, you should easily find accommodations at affordable prices.

Between December and February, the tourists leave and The Colony gets surprisingly cool. Temperatures range from the high 40s to the low 60s during this time, meaning you should pack your winter clothes. Expect hotel prices to be affordable, as supply goes up as the demand goes down.

If you don't mind triple digits and high humidity, visit The Colony during the summer. Temperatures typically range from the 80s to the 100s, but the lake and the water park give you ample opportunities to cool off. Make sure to pack the sunscreen to protect yourself from the intense sun rays and a swimming suit to hop in the water when you get a chance. Because this time of year is popular with tourists, make sure to book a hotel room well in advance of your trip.

March through May offers fluctuating temperatures similar to those experienced in the fall. You'll need to pack a jacket as it can get brisk, as well as a pair of shorts when the weather turns warm. Blooming flowers and foliage provide an excellent backdrop and unmatched beauty to the region. Hotels are usually easy to find during spring, so you might be able to snag a great deal on a room at the last minute.
