Situated in the west San Gabriel Valley, Rosemead was first established by Spanish explorers with the founding of the Mission San Gabriel Arcangel in 1771. After the Mexican-American War, Leonard John Rose settled in the valley along with other pioneers. He named his ranch Rose's Meadow and eventually shortened it to Rosemeade. After the city took on the ranch's name, the name was once again shortened to its current form of Rosemead. Despite Rosemead becoming a thriving community in those early days, it wasn't incorporated as a city until 1959.

Today, Rosemead is home to a growing number of Asian residents. Chinese and Vietnamese immigrants flocked to the community in the 1990s, opening numerous businesses, ranging from shops to ethnic restaurants. The city is currently the headquarters for Panda Restaurant Group and Sriracha's Huy Fong Foods. Along with its flourishing Asian population, Rosemead also has a significant Latino population.

Whatever your reason for visiting Rosemead, you'll want to find a hotel that offers the right blend of featured amenities, location, and price.

Best Time to Visit Rosemead, CA

The best time to visit Rosemead is during Los Angeles' shoulder seasons. The air is more breathable from March to May and again from September to November, plus there aren't as many crowds to contend with. That being said, each season offers its own advantages and drawbacks.

Summer is the LA area's peak tourist season, so expect stifling heat and big crowds from June through August. The tradeoff of visiting in the summer, however, is that you'll have access to key events like LA Pride, the LA Film Festival, Outfest, and DTLA Film Festival. Just keep in mind that hotel rates aren't as affordable during the summer months, so you'll want to plan accordingly.

Autumn marks a sweet spot for Rosemead and the rest of the Los Angeles area. With both the crowds and weather cooling off, you can enjoy LA's top attractions with less hassle. You can even score great deals on flights and accommodations if you're willing to plan your trip several weeks in advance.

If you don't mind a little rain, consider booking a trip to Rosemead in the winter. Average highs settle in the upper 60s from December through February, which certainly feels like a midwinter vacation from colder cities like Boston and New York. Winter also ushers in some of LA's most noted events, including the LA Art Show, the Golden Globe Awards, the Grammy Awards, and the Academy Awards.

While room rates aren't as affordable in the spring as they are during the winter, March through May offers budget-friendly pricing no matter where you go in the LA area. Enjoy average daytime temperatures in the low- to mid-70s without the summertime smog or winter rain. Depending on when you visit, you can enjoy a variety of seasonal events. such as the Los Angeles Marathon, Fiesta Broadway, and the Jazz Reggae Festival.
