We've stayed on the Upper West many times and feel quite at home in the neighborhood, with among other things, its easy walk to the Met.
It's located perfectly if you want to dine and walk around. Very close to Grand Central Station, 5th Avenue, and Central Park.

Easy part of town to get around and everything that we were interested in was in walking distance most things just made it easy

Very close to everything. Many good restaurants and bars in the area. 10 min walk to Madison Square garden and Times Square. About 20 mins to Central Park. And the subway was right at the corner. The location made it easy to get around the city and for the price it was worth it. Would recommend returning.
