The Townsend center point is about the area of Little River Railroad Lumber Museum and 1 mile northeast of Tuckaleechee Caverns.
Below are reviews of the city of Townsend, TN from an actual visitor's perspective.
I love Townsend. It is quaint, quiet and no heavy traffic. A great place to stay while visiting the Smokies.
We loved the Peaceful Social Kitchen (not sure of entire name) where we had excellent food. And we LOVED the Harper Vineyards where our family wedding venue took place. Townsend has the beautiful Smokey Mountains view without the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge traffic.
We went because it's close to Cades Cove.
Love Townsend, the little river peacefulness and natural beauty
Very quaint!
Antique Stores
We stay here because it is close to Cades Cove and quieter. Not crowded like Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.
I hesitate to say too many positive things about Townsend simply because I don't want the “tourist" crowd to find it! If the crowds and the tourist crap of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge aren't your thing, if you're into nature walks, quiet destinations, hearing a river instead of traffic, then Townsend is your place! The perfect place for photographers and artists to quietly let their creativity loose!
Love this little town!
The Smoky Mountains Half Marathon! Our first visit to TN… and it did not disappoint!
Cades Cove and the caverns!
Several good restaurants and close to most major attractions.
Everything close, easy to travel place to place and 15 mins from Pigeon Forge.
The Black Bear Cafe had the best fish I've ever tasted and just a down home environment
Love Townsend! It's such a beautiful place!
