The Gaithersburg center point is approximately 1 mile southwest of Montgomery County Agricultural Fairgrounds and 1 mile southwest of Lockheed Martin.
Gaithersburg is within an hour of Baltimore and less than 45 minutes from DC depending on traffic, which means it's far enough away not to suffer the same big city jumps in hotel prices, but which also means that the metro area's tourist season affects Gaithersburg crowds.
Peak tourist season for both Baltimore and DC is summer because the kids are out of school. Spring is a good time to visit Gaithersburg; you won't have to suffer through winter temperatures, but you won't have to deal with the humid summer, either. Room rates will be relatively affordable, though if you really want to save money, book in winter.
If you're a member of AAA or AARP, several Gaithersburg hotels will offer you rate reductions when you present your ID card at check-in.

Enjoyed the nearby shopping malls!
The helpful good attitude at the front desk and the comfort of the room---- with a kitchenette and dishwasher.
We came for an adult birthday party that was six minutes away. The convenience of everything we were surrounded by was pleasing. Breakfast at Barking Mad was amazing. For a minute I thought I was back overseas. We also enjoyed Columbia Mall and National Aquarium. Maryland crabcakes are the best!
Plenty of good restaurants and entertainment!
Clean and lovely area. The people were polite and friendly.
My 50 yaer high school reunion get together at the hotel's bistro was awesome.
I was there for personal reasons (trying to liquidate my brother's estate after his recent death) and the hotel's location made it easy traveling to Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village.
Room cleans comfy, staff friendly. Gaithersburg is a nice town, but its downtown is a few miles from the hotel which is closer to Shady Grove and North Rockville. Good for those visiting Washington D.C., but they'd still need a ride to get to Shady Grove Metro.
Lots of everything in and near Gaithersburg.
