Above all, Verona is known for its golf. There are five golf courses in the town itself, plus more than a dozen others in nearby Madison. If you love to take your clubs out for 18 holes, you'll love the time you spend in this corner of the United States. However, golf isn't the only attraction that might entice you to visit.
For instance, you're within driving distance of the State Capitol building, several breweries and wineries, and abundant parks and outdoor green spaces. If you're bringing the kids — or even if you're not — you won't want to miss the Wisconsin Dells. This city calls itself the water park capital of the world, and you'll find several parks from which to choose. Each park offers slides, pools, roller coasters, and many other fun activities for travelers of all ages. If you're visiting during the hot summer months, the Wisconsin Dells will cool you down fast. You can also go ziplining, take a helicopter tour, or visit some of the wonderful museums and art galleries.
In Verona itself, you'll enjoy both shopping and dining, as the town is known for its diverse cuisine and its quaint family owned shops. If you're looking for clothing or gifts for your friends back home, stop at the Purple Goose, a popular boutique that adds some fun to the shopping experience. Knitters and crotcheters will want to stop by The Sow's Ear, which sells yarn and accessories.
Foodies and art lovers should plan to have brunch at the Tuvalu Coffee House & Gallery. It serves up delicious coffee drinks as well as light snacks and pastries, but its real claim to fame lies in its exhibits of local artists' work. You might even find yourself tempted into buying a painting or sculpture so you can bring a piece of Wisconsin home with you.
All of these attractions await in Verona, so don't hesitate to book your next vacation here. Learn more about when you should visit and where you should stay, then book those plane tickets.
Best Time to Visit Verona, WI
Although winters don't get quite as cold as they do in northern Wisconsin, you might want to avoid a winter vacation all the same. Snowstorms frequently strike this part of the country, which could leave you trapped in your hotel until the city can clear the streets for traffic. Plus, the frigid temperatures will discourage you from exploring Verona's many outdoor attractions, so you might not get much value from the experience.
Summers attract the most tourists in Verona and the surrounding area, which is why you'll see the hotel prices spike between June and August. You could pay as much as 50 percent more for a hotel room, so consider avoiding the summer if you're on a strict budget. Instead, shoot for the shoulder seasons.
During autumn, you'll feel the first cold breezes blow in from the north, but the temperatures will remain mild enough to coax you outdoors. The fall colors in Wisconsin are often breathtaking, so you'll definitely want to bring your camera and capture the area's natural beauty. During spring, you're more likely to get caught in a sudden downpour, and allergy sufferers might struggle to cope with the different types of pollen here, so consider your health as well as your schedule.
