Food
I love Crystal Lake as it is my home town.
Grew up in Cary. Had breakfast at the coffee shop downtown love the courtyard blocked off to eat. Ate at Tony's dinner in Crystal Lake for Mother's Day breakfast and astound the Clock for pie and ice cream. Many hiking trails in the area and having the Metro run through the downtown in both areas gives easy access to Chicago.
I have been living just south of Crystal Lake for 52 years so I know the area quite well. Lots of great restaurants and movie theaters too.
Lived in Cary Illinois for 45 years...moved to Massachusetts for the scenery and ocean.
I've not experienced the city, but this hotel was very beautiful.

Downtown is nice. Lake is beautiful! Lots of restaurant choices.
I never left the hotel due to a convention but heard that other people enjoyed the closeness of Hwy. 14, Main Street shopping district and restaurants like the Village Squire.
The room was clean, comfortable. The staff was friendly. The city was cute, the main beach at Crystal Lake Park was clean and fun.
