The Tudor Place is located in northwest Washington, D.C., in Georgetown, just 2.5 miles from the center of the city. The mansion was built on property purchased in 1805 by George Washington's step-granddaughter and her husband. Tours are conducted each hour from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. Sundays, except for major holidays. Nearby are other attractions, such as the Old Stone House, built in 1765, the oldest building in Washington D.C. that is still intact. It can be viewed from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday, except on major holidays. Or the Dumbarton House has been made a museum, containing artwork, furniture, and architecture of a Federal period style. It is open for tours from Tuesday to Sunday, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. A variety of other attractions, including restaurants, clubs, shops of many kinds, and more are to be found in Georgetown near the Tudor Place. Visit Blues Alley, the oldest jazz supper club still in business in America, for dinner and a show any night of the week. Or head down to the Georgetown dock and take a ride on the Potomac with the Potomac Riverboat Company, which offers sightseeing tours of many locations on the river. Parking near these attractions is available on the street; however, it fills up quickly, so the best transportation to the area is the Metro, with the nearest stations being the Foggy Bottom station and the Rosslyn Station, across the river.
