Not only is this location inside of the I-495 loop and a short drive from Washington D.C., but it's also a four-star hotel with rates that are only slightly higher than the budget options mentioned above. The Westin Alexandria is within 10 miles of numerous attractions and sights, including The Pentagon and the National Museum of American History. Paid Wi-Fi is available, but all rooms come with complementary flat-screens with cable TV channels. The location was very convenient to both the New Jersey Turnpike and interstate 295 as well. Lots of restaurants nearby. Sabrina at the front desk was helpful in referring us to local restaurants and gave us a list of restaurant addresses. We chose Cracker Barrel and it was great.
Shops are nearby and also Auto Train.
Chose Lorton because as it's easier than being in a bigger town. I usually try and stay in Holiday Inn

We went from the highway to the hotel to the auto train. We did have dinner at Naty's next to the hotel and it was very good. We tried it thanks to a very helpful woman at the front desk and we weren't disappointed. It's nicer than you might think from the outside and has a terrific menu, something for everyone.
