Opened in April 2006, this stunning Mediterranean-inspired facility features 17,000 square feet of open-floor plans and conference rooms. The elegant, Mizner-style 7,800-square foot Ballroom accommodates as many as 600 diners and 800 attendees. In recognition of its excellence as a meeting venue, the Main Building was named to Meetings & Conventions magazine’s Hall of Fame.
Situated in the middle of five miles of private beach, the Beach Club and its 60-foot wide gazebo lends itself ideally as a semi-outdoor meeting place for those staying at The Cloister. Its 16-foot-high ceiling helps to create a gracious, airy feel to the facility, while an assortment of delightful informal dining venues ensure an all-around, highly satisfying experience. The ocean views are not to be missed.

This property is magnificent!!! The grounds are impeccably maintained! This is truly a paradise...numerous swimming pools; great spa; wonderful gym and fitness classes; everything one can imagine!!! Our room was huge and beautifully appointed (with a small balcony) and spotlessly clean. The bathrooms had "his" and "hers" separate sinks which I loved!!! This is a first class place with excellent service. All staff are friendly and greet guests with a smile. Everything is "a la carte" and very pricy! The surrounding homes on the property are exquisite multi million dollar homes! This is a "once in a lifetime" destination resort for pampering and fitness. The restaurants were good and very pricy. « less

We were invited for a couples weekend on Sea Island. We have wanted to stay here for many years. I cannot say enough how wonderful the staff was our entire stay! From the front gate to the beach club to the main hotel there was not one thing they missed. Everyone went out of their way to meet your every need. We stayed in the beach villas, which were beautiful. Full kitchen, beautiful patio, well appointed bedrooms. The beach club is a great place to have a glass of wine and lunch. Great views! I could walk around the main hotel for hours. It's a great place for couples or families. We are hoping to take our girls back this summer. « less

We've been wanting to visit The Cloister for years and it did not disappoint. The hotel is gorgeous and the grounds are immaculate. We stayed in a two bedroom ocean villa and it was enormous and well appointed. The ocean villas are, in my opinion, far away from the main activities and restaurants at the hotel, but the hotel will shuttle you around in a golf cart. I was glad we rented our own golf car though so we didn't have to wait around to be shuttled. The concierge gave us the information for a rental agency and they delivered the cart when we arrived. Most of the action, especially for kids, happens at the beach club so stay there if you want to be in the heart of things. The ocean villas were great though and have a really nice private pool and hot tub where we never saw another person. We ate at all of the restaurants, more than once, and enjoyed them all. My absolute favorite was the seafood buffet at Southern Tide, which happens every Wednesday night. DO NOT MISS THIS. The River Bar is also wonderful. Tavola is a good Italian restaurant with great ambiance. The Georgian Room is a treat if you are into a fancy meal (it was a bit haute cuisine for my taste and the food wasn't amazing, but we enjoyed the experience). Colt and Alison was my least favorite, but we enjoyed seeing the Lodge and hearing the bagpipers before dinner even though our meal wasn't amazing. I'd suggest going to the Lodge to have a drink and hear the bagpipers at sunset and then eating at their casual restaurant. Or eat somewhere in town on your way home. Even though this is an extremely kid friendly hotel, there are many, many options for adult focused fun. Upscale lounges and bars are scattered throughout the property and after our toddler went to bed we felt like we were on an adult trip. And the spa--WOW. Wow. It is gorgeous. The service is amazing at the hotel too, everyone is so friendly and goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. I'd recommend this property to anyone with one caveat--I am a beach person and I love the ocean. I'd never visited a Georgia beach before, and I have to admit it was disappointing. The water is very brown and murky and the hotel is so set back from the water that you don't feel like you're in a tropical beachy spot. That critique, of course, is about the location and not the property. « less

We had for meals are all were uninspired, for what they charge they food should have been much much better, so I recommend if you can eat in town.
Oh, and don't forget to rent a bike for a couple of hours, you can see some spectacular homes. « less

My daughter and her husband got married at Sea Island last weekend. All I can say is that my daughter said it was "the best day of her life". It was really very amazing. Elizabeth and Melissa worked hard along with Kelley at The Vine to make the night magical and they did. I am going to try to post the teaser video but Sea island is a mix of Gatsby and Glam. Everyone raved about their rooms, the food, the service, everything. Gorgeous!!! « less
