Hotel Arminius is located right in the middle of the old town, walking distance from the spa park and the shopping streets. The buildings are beautifully renovated, with direct passage to the spa area and the restaurant. The room was very large and comfortable. Breakfast service can really spoil you - huge selection! If you reserve the garage, you can just drive right into your spot and start enjoying your stay. Highly recommended! « less

Ideally, hotels should allow you to enjoy their location whilst maintaining the virtues of good accomodation at all times. Romantik Hotel Arminius does this very well. Where better than the very centre of of this delightfully traditional town to stay? Yet it could be noisy? - fear not. The rooms are pleasantly furnished with all one needs. Whilst not hugely spacious, you should not feel cramped. Being hypercritical for a moment, the tv (in my room anyway) was housed in a cabinet way down the length of the room making it difficult (impossible?) to recline on the bed and watch it. Small problem - I could live with that.
The service is professional and friendly - with English spoken easily and willingly.
Food is good and interestingly varied. Another Hotel separate restaurant next door is expensive but suitably good if you feel indulgent.
Not so good is the underground garage. The air conditioning ducts excrete a chalky fluid onto your car if you are not careful - in one area at least so take advice from the staff about this. There is little evidence of deposits on the floor of the garage to show you where, but you will find white lines on the roof and side of your car if you are unlucky as I was with my M-Benz S Class. The resulting damage was sufficient for the `hotel to refund the 40 Euro weekly charge as compensation. Fortunately the deposits were removed but with difficulty.
Otherwise excellent Hotel nd a very enjoyable stay. « less

Spent a night here visiting a friend prior to my meeting in Hanover the next day. The hotel is done in the best German lodging traditions. A very old building has been fully restored and on the inside everything is modern and new. The hotel actually spans two buildings, but the guest rooms are in the restored one. There are three stories and I did not see an elevator (lift). So that may present a bit of a challenge for some travelers. The rooms are excellent, bedding is "german" which i like, but I know that some American tourists are not crazy about. Breakfast is excellent. Staff are efficient and helpful. The hotel has a garage, which in the old town is pretty important. The garage plus internet (wifi) is charged at 10 euro per night. The hotel is very well positioned right in the middle of the town. So all of the restaurants and shops are within 5 minute walk on very charming cobblestone streets. Nearby is a wonderful, huge park with a lake a row boats and lakeside biergarten and restaurant. The town is orientated toward "waters" and has an old style "recuperation" atmosphere with therapies, clinics, and other health related services abound. Right in the middle of Kur Park are huge walls with moss-like covers that have the local mineral springs water piped through them creating a wonderful "sea like" air atmosphere which is considered therapuetic to simple breathe in. It is said that Hitler planned to retire here. I can see why. Of course Adolf ended up "retiring" in a bunker in Berlin. Anyway, a very strong recommendation if you are exploring northern Germany. « less

I have regularly stayed here for business. The staff are always pleasant and speak good english. The rooms and facilities always clean. The food is good and fresh and I like the breakfast choice. There is a garage underneath, which usually has room for the car. Its also central to town which is gorgeous to walk around and there are some good restaurants near by. « less
