During a recent 2 and half week private tour of Vietnam organised though V'explore my brother and I spent a total of 5 nights in this hotel, one on the first night of the tour and 4 at the end. The first night was in a superior room which was smallish but still quite acceptable. However, for our return visit we upgraded to a deluxe room which was excellent. The positives were the hotel's location, the friendly and helpful staff and good facilities. Not so good was the restaurant at breakfast. We never could quite work out the relationship between the 3 (or possibly 4) collocated and related hotels which all utilised the one restaurant. Because of the large numbers of tour groups staying at the hotel(s), on each of our 5 mornings at the hotel there was something of a bun fight (literally) at breakfast with tables and sometimes food in short supply - particularly around the 7.30 to 8.00am time-frame. The other thing we never got to the bottom of were the 20% discount vouchers given to us at check-in for the attached H-Bar. On three occasions when we attempted to use the vouchers we were unsuccessful and on one occasin had quite an altercation with the bar manager. Despite our queries back to the hotel we never quite got to the bottom of it and can only assume something was lost in the translation. Overall though, I was extremely satisfief with the hotel and I would readily return with my wife when (if) I am able to return to Vietam. « less

We booked a family room at the Hoang Lai South Hotel for 3 nights. Location is great. Walking distance to everything. Hotel and restaurant staff were very nice and friendly. A bit of language barrier.It took 48hrs to do our laundry and no-one had a response for us. Just a "we will follow up". Had to ask for extra towels. (family of 4 and only 2 towels). Ran out of toilet paper and soap and was only replaced when room was serviced. One of the lights kept flicking at night when power was turned off. The room had a small window with a view of a run down brick wall from the next building. Very poor lighting in room. On the good side breakfast was good and lobby area was very nice. Also nice bar downstairs to relax and watch the hustle and bustle of HCMC. (and to get away from room) « less

Me and my friend landed from a 24hr flight for the first time in Vietnam and were greeted with friendly smiles and someone to carry our bags to our rooms. Rooms were very clean and tidy with a large bathroom, aircon and comfy beds. The best part about this hotel was the tourist help desk lady, a beautiful lady who was always there to help, seeing as my friend and i messed up our visas and were having an emergency she was so kind and helpful with visas and money and trip guidance she helped us out with everything and became our adopted mum for the trip. All the staff were helpful and professional and i loved this hotel. Best hotel in the world thank you!!!!! « less

We booked in as a small group of 11 adventurers to take in the sites and flavours of Saigon. The Hotel staff were very friendly and attentive and looked after our needs and requests for additional advice, and carried the initial cost of establishing fresh day tours. Rooms were clean, A/C good and the morning breakfast spread, able to cater for both Western & Asian needs. Tables were quickly cleared enabling access for the transient breakfast crowd. Location is handy , near to the Cho Ben Thanh Market. The massage on the first floor was great for our group after a long day exploring around HCMC ! A recommended stay in Vietnam ! « less
